More about John Osborne's development as an artist...
John started painting watercolors in late 1970 and, by the early 1980's had achieved a modest reputation as a painter of South African landscapes and completed several commissions. It was at this time that he decided to experiment with oils and, to this end, enrolled in a course under the guidance of Ann Lindsell-Stewart, an internationally known artist. Additional studies spread over a twenty year period have enabled John to refine his techniques and style. Further paintings continued to be commissioned until he immigrated to the United States in November 2013.
Settled currently in Parker, Colorado, to be close to his family, John is now painting only with oils and is enjoying exploring the Colorado Rockies and other beautiful parts of the USA. The challenge of capturing these landscapes on canvas is John's new inspiration! He is a member of the Parker Artist Guild in Colorado, and has his work accepted by the guild for its annual Art in the Park Show. In November 0214, he exhibited at the Gateway to the Rockies Art Show in Aurora and, in December, at the Bell Gallery in Pearl Street Denver, for the Square Foot Art Show. In 2015, selected paintings were shown at the Colorado Visions Art Show, Westminster City Hall, under the auspices of the North Metro Arts Alliance.
